Bold, Edgy, The 80's Are Back Baby! Latest Trends in Engagement Ring Styles 2024

Bold, Edgy, The 80's Are Back Baby! Latest Trends in Engagement Ring Styles 2024

It's fascinating to me how styles seem so cyclical. Around every 20 or so years, similar styles (with a modern take) circle back around, in fashion and jewelry. Read on to see what styles we are seeing that are hot to trot these days.

1. Eighties Inspired Designs

We are seeing sassy bolder designs, with wider more substantial engagement rings and other jewelry styles. Marquise cuts are trending again, as are princess cuts. (Listen carefully, you can literally hear stone setters cringing, because these shapes are not easy to set with their sharp points/corners. lol) Many of which are in yellow gold, but we are seeing white metals trending a bit as well. Two tone is another hot choice lately in engagement ring styles.

2. Unique Gemstone Choices

While diamonds, lab diamonds and moissanite remain a classic choice, modern couples are increasingly drawn to colored stones - your engagement ring doesn't have to be the same ol' same ol'. Sapphires, emeralds (which are on the softer side, so be aware), and morganites are gaining popularity. Did you know sapphires come in an absolute rainbow of colors? Most people are primarily familiar with the classic navy sapphires, but they legit come in many other colors as well. Sapphires are great for engagement rings, because they are on the harder side, on the MOHs hardness scale. So are moissanite, they are about the same hardness as sapphires, around 9-9.25, second only to diamond, at a 10.

3. Nature-Inspired Designs

Nature-inspired engagement rings are flourishing, bringing the outdoors into the world of jewelry. Delicate floral motifs, leafy patterns, and organic shapes create a sense of whimsy. These designs not only exude elegance but also carry a deeper meaning, symbolizing growth, renewal, and the enduring beauty of love. (That's sooo cheesy. lol)

4. Mixed Metals for Personalized Flair

The days of sticking to a single metal are long gone! Mixing metals has become a popular trend, allowing for a personalized and dynamic look. Combining white gold with rose gold or platinum with yellow gold adds depth and character to engagement rings, creating a unique piece that reflects the wearer's individual style.

Whichever route you decide to go, JHD is here to help! We are experts in stepping our kickass cool customers (that's you!) though the process of jewelry design. For an engagement ring, we start with stone type, shape and size. Then once you have those choices made, we can tackle discussing the design of the setting itself. Once we narrow down all the deets, we will build your design, then do a few pics of it to show you, including a model shot in your exact ring size, so you can see just how it will look on. And at that time we will have pricing for you as well. #boom

As always, we are here to answer any questions you may have, hope everyone is having a fantastic 2024 so far!
